M'Goun, 4068 m high, is the second highest mountain
in the north of Africa and around it we can find some of the human settlements
which cannot be reached by any mechanical means of communication in Morocco.
It is thanks to this isolation that we can take a route along one of the
most beautiful areas of the high Atlas, a trip back to a time which is
still present in this place as in no other in this country.
“Trekking Mgoun, firsts days: We
left early in the morning from Boutagrha, a beautiful village on the
foot of the Atlas. We had spent the night there invited in the house
of our guide Lahcen. Following up the river Dades we go into these reddish
mountains which make the Atlas range. As we go by we find different
Berber villages, adobe and wooden house that seem to emerge from the
earth and above which the Kasbahs stand".
