GRAND CIRCULAR TREK AROUND THE M´GOUN MASSIF
The route starts from Kasbah Itran, walking through the Valley of Roses to Boutaghrar, the village where we spent the first night. We then walk through breathtaking gorges carved into the limestone rock by the Mgoun River, taking two days to climb up to the high altitude meadows of Aflafal, where nomadic families spend the summer. The next day we reach the Terkeddit plain. An early start (4:30am) is needed for those who decide to climb up to the M´goun summit, while the rest of the group begin later, taking a mule track to Tiggitine, where we all meet up. We spend the seventh night at a family home in Ameskar. From this village we continue our descent through the riverside orchards to Alemdoum and, after a final climb to Tourbist, we return to Kasbah Itran by car.

NOT INCLUDED: • mineral water during the trek: we are striving to minimize our impact on the mountains, so we have decided to reduce the use of plastic containers. You should therefore bring water purifying tablets or any other filtering mechanism • transfer to or from Marrakech: regular buses every day (approx. 6 hours) or a private taxi (€150 /taxi, maximum 6 persons per taxi) • accommodation in Marrakech (we can arrange a reservation in a Riad in the Medina •
TREKKING LEVELS:You do not have to be an expert mountaineer, but you must be in good physical shape and, most importantly, have a willing spirit. Mules are used to carry the equipment, while travellers walk for 7 or 8 hours, stopping for lunch at midday. EQUIPMENT should be reduced to a minimum and split up as follows: BACKPACK OR LARGE BAG: To be carried by mules on the trekking days.It will contain our hiking material,sleeping bag,etc. + DAY PACK:Carried by each person on the journey and the trekking routes. RECOMMENDED DATES, April to October.
